Virechana is one among 5 sodhana karma (purification procedure). It is a procedure in which the prakupita doshas are expelled through adhomarga (anal route) by the administration of medicines through oral route.

It can be used both as a purificatory & emergency treatment. It is easy to administer with least complication. Virechana has maximum efficacy with cost effective and is easy to perform. It has wide field of utility, and the medicines are used in different forms like choornas, kwatha, sneha, lehya etc.

• Acute Pyrexia
• Prolapsed rectum
• Bleeding through Genito-urinary tract
• Anal ulcer & injury
• Contraindicated before 10 years and after 70 years of age
