'Patra' means leaves and 'Potali' means bundle. Refers to the sudation performed by specially prepared bundle of medicinal leaves or application of heat and there by inducing Swedana by using heated pack of specific herbal leaves. It is a type of ushma sweda. Snigdha ruksha type of swedana/ neither too ruksha nor too snigha but a blend of the two - mediocre in gradient scale. It is a kind of sudation where heat, pressure and oil are applied simultaneously with certain vatahara drugs. So it may stimulate neuromuscular system and nourish it, acts as pain reliever etc.
