Kayaseka is a variety of Drava sweda/Snigdha sweda in which the warmed oil is poured from a specific height to all over the body/ specific part for a stipulated period, in a specific manner. It has the advantage of producing snehana & swedana simultaneously. It is a rejuvenate procedure as well as curative programme. It can be performed as ekanga dhara (locally) or sarvanga dhara (whole body). It is modified form of pariseka sweda & it comes under drava sweda. Pizhichil is a modified form of kayaseka developed by Keraleeya Vaidyas and is extensively practiced.

Indication

• Neuromuscular disorders (Hemiplegia, paraplegia, muscular dystrophy)
• Mixed connective tissue disorders MCTD, LBA, Intervertebral Disc Prolapse (IVDP)
• Convulsive disorders
• Post traumatic conditions
• Degenerative diseases
• Peripheral Neuropathy
• Rheumatological problems (RA, OA, Degenerative joint disorders)
• Fracture of bones & post fracture stiffness of joints, Insomnia

Contraindications

• Painful inflammatory conditions
• Acute stages of fever
• Gastrointestinal problems
• Diarrhea
• Digestive disorders
• Respiratory disorders (cough, breathing difficulty, infections)
